High Country Mom & Kids

We have this metal print on our dining room wall and it gets a lot of great comments. The grizzly sow had just finished feeding her cubs when the trio heard a noise down the valley.

Grizzly 399 Summer Parade

Summer Parade – 399 and Cubs

New of grizzly sow 399’s four new cubs spread quickly when she first appeared. Large crowds and huge bear jams were common all summer that year. I caught them one spring morning in Grand Teton National Park.

Winter Parade – 399 and Cubs

Even when the cubs were much larger, any sighting created large bear jams. This photo was taken a few days before they headed to their den for hibernation.

Shoshone Alone

Shoshone Alone

Shoshone has been my favorite bull moose over the past four or five years. He’s magnificent, with his distinctive brow tines and overall size. While I occasionally see Shoshone with another bull, he tends to be more of a loner than some of the other bulls. I always liked the way all of the lines flow to the subject.

Streamside Family

Streamside Family

I photographed this family of River Otters over a period of a few weeks. I managed to get quite a few photos of individual Otters, but I found it extremely difficult to get all of them with their heads up at the same time. On this morning, they posed perfectly for me, as if they knew it was going to be my last chance. The next day, the family broke up and the parents sent their youngsters on their own.

Shoshone in a Fall Meadow

Shoshone in a Fall Meadow

Hands down, Shoshone is my favorite bull Moose! There may be one or two bigger bulls, but I’ve always found him to be the most majestic. This photo was taken during the peak fall season during the rut in Grand Teton National Park.

Pouncer

Pouncer

Foxes use their keen hearing to identify and isolate a mouse or vole below the snow. They dive to the spot in hopes of retrieving a breakfast meal. During the winter months their young are on their own and they are hunting for themselves.
